This model has been developed by Kathy Kain, an international trainer in trauma recovery and faculty member of the Somatic Training Institute. http://www.somaticpractice.net/ This two-year training offers psychotherapists the opportunity to learn to use an awareness of touch in an ethical, informed, and competent way to assist people with resolving traumatic experiences of many kinds.
There is a thorough grounding in how trauma will show itself in the many layers and structures of the body. The use of touch in this context is based on the intention to support people to develop and deepen their felt experience of themselves. This resource of embodiment offers a safe place from which to change rigid patterns of tension and disconnection.
